The Community Services section of the Community Planning and Sustainable Development Department is the lead agency for Douglas County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) activities. Any project or program funded with these federal dollars must meet specific eligibility criteria set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), address a local priority need, identified in the County’s 2004-2008 Consolidated Plan, and meet a national objective of the program.
The national objectives of the CDBG program are to:
· benefit low- to moderate-income persons;
· prevent or eliminate slum and blight conditions; and
· address an urgent community need.
The Douglas County CDBG program year runs from Aug. 1 to July 31. The Douglas County 2008 program year grant was approximately $790,000.
